A Correction for Sprite

Last week, while discussing Pepsi storming the Wild Wing barricades, I made an off-hand comment about Sprite.  I mentioned their tag-line "Obey Your Thirst" had been around since 1994.  Well I was a bit off-the-spot, a mistake I would never make with 7-Up.

Still More Cans for Trade February 2014
Little did I know, Sprite actually retired the "Obey Your Thirst" moniker back in 2010. As a lad who tries to keep his ear close to the soothing heartbeat of the soda world, I find this embarrassing. Sprite's current tagline is "For the Thirsty."  See what they did there?  With this new look, Coca-Cola is looking to give Sprite a little nudge.  See, Sprite reigns over 66 percent of the lemon-lime soda world, which makes it a type of kingpin, but they want more from their kingpin.  Sadly, less people are buying soda these days, which means if they can't get new people to buy soda, they can get current soda drinkers to switch to a new brand, hence the new tag-line.  So, 7-Up and Sierra Mist drinkers, be warned that if you are truly thirsty, those drinks are not for you.

Cranberry Sprite

Well they finally did it!  Coca-Cola finally got on the bandwagon and released a cranberry soda for the holidays.  Cranberry Sprite will be here for the 2013 holiday season and I already have the can. I am on the look out for the Sprite Zero version, which so far I have been unable to locate at my local Wal-Mart; I might need to check some more upscale vendors.

I know Sierra Mist and Canada Dry will be releasing Cranberry versions this holiday season as well. I will be hunting for those too.  This Sprite however I feel is unique because this is its inaugural year. Hopefully we will be seeing it for many more holidays to come.

Opening Soda All On His Own

This is just a quick posted to celebrate the good news my son shared with my wife.  He took a can of LeBron James Sprite from the fridge, tried to open it on his own, failed, then tried again, got a little closer, tried a third time, and finally opened it.  He was so proud of himself.  Now, we find several opened soda cans in the fridge.  He gets a kick out of opening them, even more then actually drinking them it seems.  What a champ.

LeBron pauses to congratulate my son opening his
first soda can.  In a later interview, he said he was
"honored" to be the image on the can used.

LeBron James

I watched a documentary on Coca-Cola today.  While watching, I enjoyed a Coke product myself and was able to add the can to my collection.  Below is the 2013 Sprite can featuring an impressive outline of LeBron James, currently of the Miami Heat.  I am not sure how many, if any, other cans are in the NBA series.  If I find a pack of Sprite I will try to turn the cans inside to see if anyone besides out man LeBron is hiding inside.
